Alexia Foundation for World Peace Annual Photography Contest$15,000 for the production of a proposed project. The Alexia Foundation seeks to "provide the financial ability for a photographer to produce a substantial picture story that furthers the foundation's goals of promoting world peace and cultural understanding." Then you can head to mid-town for Noel Night starting at 5pm, although  most of the shops, galleries, and museums will already be open for you to enjoy!

What was I thinking?  I forgot to post on this blog about the Roots in Detroit Photography Exhibit!  Well, it's here.  The contest for local photographers to capture the essence of Detroit and its roots took place months ago.  The show is tonight, Saturday, August 13, 2011.  Hope you can make it. Many of the photographers (including yours truly) will have prints for sale.

Lawrence Street Gallery in Ferndale is a co-op of artists with several shows a year that calls for entries from other artists in the area (Ron and I were in the "Exposures '11" show with "Metro Gothic" and "Ghost of Future Detroit".
