N'namdi Gallery & Jother Woods

Yesterday, Ron and I met Mr. Jother Woods.  He is an artist who has a 25 foot long three dimensional piece made from recycled materials.  The exhibition is called "Homeland" and his piece, Plantation House takes up nearly the whole room.  This interesting fellow explained his artwork and pointed out many of the features from this unique plantation.  Learn more here on Ron's photography blog.

The exhibition, "Homeland" will be on display until September 10, 2011.  Entry to the N'namdi Gallery is free.  Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday 12-6pm.  It is located a couple blocks south of Warren on Forest and a half block east of Woodward (behind the Chicken Shack).  Currently, there is an enormous mural on the wall facing Woodward with American Sign Language spelling out LOOK.

So head on down to midtown Detroit to check out the art!
